How does the offline kiosk work?
The CrecheHQ kiosk uses IndexedDB (browser-based storage) to store attendance data locally on the device. When a parent checks a child in or out, the action is recorded immediately on the device. When internet connectivity is available, all offline records automatically sync to the server.
What happens if the internet goes down during drop-off?
Nothing changes for parents or staff. The kiosk continues to work exactly the same way - children appear, parents tap to check in/out, and everything is recorded. The only difference is a small offline indicator. When connectivity returns, all data syncs automatically.
How long can the kiosk work offline?
The kiosk can work offline indefinitely. All children's data and attendance records are stored locally. However, we recommend syncing at least daily to ensure records are backed up and available across devices.
Is GPS tracking included in the kiosk?
Yes. Each check-in and check-out records the GPS coordinates of the device. This provides an audit trail showing where attendance actions occurred - useful for transport scenarios or multi-site operations.
Can parents use the kiosk themselves?
Yes. The kiosk is designed for parent self-service. Parents see a photo grid of children, select their child, and tap check-in or check-out. The interface auto-clears after 5 seconds for privacy, with no login required.
